As a member of the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) through Scripps ACO, you need access to certain CMS tools and documents. These include the PECOS enrollment system, MSSP marketing regulations and point-of-care notification materials, all available below.

The Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System (PECOS)

PECOS is an online Medicare enrollment system where providers can:


  • Submit Medicare enrollment applications
  • View and print enrollment information
  • Update enrollment information
  • Complete the enrollment revalidation process
  • Withdraw from the Medicare Program voluntarily
  • Track the status of a submitted Medicare enrollment application

MSSP Marketing & Materials Guidance for ACOs

An ACO’s marketing materials and activities are often the first exposure a beneficiary has to the ACO and to the MSSP. To ensure beneficiaries receive accurate and clear information, CMS has created templates and guidance for ACOs to use.


CMS requires that all marketing materials related to ACO activities be reviewed by CMS. Before use, ACOs must submit all marketing materials to CMS for review, except for the marketing templates CMS provides as part of the Shared Savings Program ACO Marketing Toolkit.

The 2015 Medicare Shared Savings Program Final Rule established requirements for how beneficiaries are notified about changing their option to decline sharing their health care information with ACOs.
