Scripps ACO and its participating physicians agree to meet certain standards of behavior and practice. These standards ensure Scripps ACO remains loyal, inclusive and transparent to its members. And they confirm our physicians will stay engaged and uphold key regulatory, quality and safety commitments.

ACO agrees to:

  • Maintain primary loyalty to Scripps and ACO participating physicians 
  • Create and maintain a patient-centered service culture 
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement
  • Negotiate well to align incentives  
  • Include physicians in work and decision-making
  • Provide clear and timely information, including:
  • Membership criteria, quality measure scoring
  • Accountability/improvement process  
  • Contract, financial performance
  • Provide physicians with information, services and education to ensure high quality care and ease practice burdens 
  • Seek feedback from participating physicians and provide opportunities for collaboration
  • Make effective communications with the participating physicians a priority 
  • Ensure meetings are worthwhile and engaging 

Physicians agree to:

  • Practice evidence‐based medicine  
  • Uphold regulatory, quality and safety goals  
  • Report quality data  
  • Meet clinical integration criteria  
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and performance feedback sessions 
  • Review information from Scripps ACO and respond when appropriate 
  • Accept decisions from Scripps ACO committees 
  • Be flexible and share ideas that will facilitate success of the ACO 
  • Collaborate with colleagues, hospitals and other key stakeholders 
  • Behave as professionals with integrity, including:  
  • Act in a way that is respectful, collaborative and compassionate with a focus on service to our patients  
  • Pursue excellence and continuous improvement 
  • Promote the fair and ethical stewardship of society’s resources
